Prologue
Hey all. Me here. I am re-writing this. Enjoy. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about: Enjoy.
So in the meanwhile, this is from the book (well not really; I am re-writing that, so this is from the top of my head. It's called winging it. It's my writing style :)
Zelf started pacing. 'Well, see--' he began, then stopped once he saw the sharp glare that Melody was giving him.
'What?' he said.
'I don't want an explanation. Just bring me back home.'
'Um, I'm afraid that that isn't--'
'Do you make a living kidnapping helpless twelve-year-old girls?'
'Not exactly. But Melody, listen--'
'And you didn't answer my question. How do you know my name?'
Zelf sighed. 'Dude, chillax. Look, I'll tell you in a moment--'
'How can I chillax when you just kidnapped me?!? For all I know you're one of those killer maniac people and--'
'Would you just be quiet for a moment?!?'' Zelf yelled.
. . .
Cricket.
'Thank you,' Zelf said. 'Now, let me begin.'
Hear ye, hear ye. Zelf, it happens, is a terrible storyteller and drifts off topic now and then. Here is the abridged version of his tale. Ignore the brackets if you will.
'In the beginning there were parallel worlds, Earth and Arva. They were in different galaxies, but both were exactly the same. They both had humans and the same animals and plants and all that, and even a little magic.'
Melody listened, more than a little sceptically.
'All was going well, but one day there was born a man in Arva who had a seed of evil in his heart. This seed grew into a plant of thorns. Now you must know that because they were in different galaxies, the twin planets knew nothing of each other. Well, this man somehow saw planet Earth in his magical telescope, (at this point Melody interrupted to say something about why the telescope was magical, but Zelf held up a hand and explained that he wasn't a very good storyteller, and could she at least humour him?) given to him by his brother for his birthday. The telescope sought out the evil in the man’s heart (here Melody interrupted again, but Zelf ignored her) and whispered to him the secret of the twins. Using space, time and black magic, the man traveled to Earth. He had a plan.
'He used sorcery to spirit himself outside a rich couple’s house. Fortunately for him, on the day he came, there was a terrible storm going on. He begged at the door, pleading for them to let him in, and being the fools that they were, they did.'
They were blind to the true wishes of the sorcerer. All he wanted was power and their money. He told them all about Arva and his story, twisting it (and not in a good way, mind you). They believed him, and got rather entranced in the tale of the twin world. They were so obsessed that they got the idiotic idea of wanting to go there.
That very night, while they were sleeping, he snuck out, gathered the forces he had used to get to Earth and recharging them into a small shuttle using the lightning from the storm (thus the invention of the shuttle). The next morning, he told them to get into the shuttle, for it was departing for Arva. So they got on, and the shuttle took off.
What they did not know was that he had sent them off so that he could use the Black Arts to make everyone believe that he owned their house and their money, so the result would be so. He was getting quite bored with his world and wanted to settle somewhere else. Oh, and he had programmed the shuttle to launch into the middle of space and explode.
But Arva was almost a being of its own. It lurched so that it could catch the shuttle. That lurch shook and upset the planet and the people a little. And, at precisely that moment, par coincidence, the timely shuttle exploded.
The explosion was made of no ordinary fire, and on Arva the result was almost doubled. The shuttle sank to the center of the planet and the world was blown apart.
But strangely, no one died.
Arva was split into four continents with four stones: Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Different creatures were created: elves, dragons, wizards, goblins and such. At the same time, because they were twins and in some strange way connected, Arva gained a huge morale boost in magic and Earth lost all of its own. To make matters worse, people had no recollection of the world as it had been. Some, though, caught glimpses, visions, of strange creatures and their names, and wrote about them.
Over time, a great sorcerer in Arva created four most powerful weapons. What Melody had to do was get the four stones and make Arva normal again.
'Well?' Zelf said hopefully. His response sunk his confidence a little bit.
'What kind of an idiot do you think I am?'
If you don't get that, go here.
